When should my grass be painted?
Spring, Fall, Summer, Winter, Year-round!

This means no more costly over-seeding in the fall, no more fertilizing, no more winter mowing, and no more wasting your weekend on yard work.

Do I need to do anything to prepare the area where I plan to use the green grass paint?

Yes. For best results, the area should be mowed and raked thoroughly prior to applying the our grass paint.

Do I need to be concerned about any weather conditions?

Yes. Only use the grass paint on dry days with no rain or snow in the forecast. The product needs at least one hour to dry to prevent wasting time and money to reapply.

Can the grass be damp or wet when I apply the grass paint?

No. If dew is present in the early morning or it rained the night before, wait to begin application until at least noon or when you can push down on the ground and feel solid turf.  If you apply the product on wet grass it will decrease your mixing ratio down to 1:20 to 1:25, which means the application will be extremely light in color.

What ratios should I use when mixing with water?

With our Grass Paint we recommend between a 1:8  to 1:14  ratio when mixing concentrate with water, which equals 1 ounce of concentrate per 8-14  ounces water. When using EZGrow or Natural Green Grass Patch, position the bottle/sprayer further away from or closer to the area to achieve the desired shade. For a lighter shade, you can also dilute the product by adding 1 oz. of water at a time to reach the correct color. For a darker shade, add Grass Paint concentrate to the bottle one ounce at a time.

Should I filter the Grass Paint when loading it into the sprayer?

Yes.  When pouring any of our products into an airless paint sprayer, a backpack sprayer, or a bug sprayer, always be sure to filter.  Filtering will ensure that product flakes, dirt, grass, etc. does not clog the sprayer filter.

Is there a pattern I should follow when applying paint to yards, mulch or rock bed?

Some professionals like to start from the middle of the area spraying outward. Others spray the area edges first, and then go to the middle. Another option is to spray in a grid pattern. (Be sure to overlap the previous line with product by up to 50% to avoid a splotchy look.) Refer to the Instructional Videos on speclawn.com.

What should I use around the edges of the yard?

We recommend you use a paint shield or piece of cardboard. This will help prevent the lawn paint from staining the driveway, pavers, walkways or cement.  If the turf paint does spray onto unwanted areas, use a scrub brush with soap and water, and then spray with water.  Always have a bucket of soapy water on hand to wipe off paint and cleaning the sprayer after use.

When can people walk on the painted grass?

Newly-painted grass should be kept free of people and pets for at least four hours after application.

Should I put a sign in the yard promoting my business?

Absolutely!  It is a good idea to gain permission from your customers up front to post a sign in the yard while the job is being done and also to take before and after pictures for promotional purposes. Always ask for this from the customer before starting the job to avoid any miscommunication.

What should I do with equipment after the job is completed?

Be sure to always maintain your tools by following the recommended cleaning instructions on the sprayer, shield, clothing, etc. Your tools are your livelihood and must be kept in good working order to extend their usage and save you money.
